Please Unsubscribe to my Newsletter at the bottom of the page if you are not getting enough value from reading it.Really, even if I know you, you won’t hurt my feelings if you Unsubscribe.
IN FACT, IDENTIFY ALL THE THINGS YOU NEED TO UNSUBSCRIBE TO.....
I’ve spent much of the past month focusing on providing value for others, finding the most valuable activities for myself, and encouraging others to concentrate on what is most valuable to them.As part of those exercises, I’ve discovered that I get a lot of e-mail that I just delete because I don’t have time to read it.Then, I feel guilty for not taking the time to read it, afraid I might have missed something really valuable. At that point, I realize it has already cost me more energy and thought time than if I had simply took a few moments to read it through.I’ve decided to stop this madness!I am now methodically unsubscribing to anything that does not currently feed my needs. If my needs change, I’m not worried. The right resources will find me again. But for now, I’m only subscribing to the things that will feed my needs in a positive way and offer more value than they cost me in attention or time.
As many of you know, I am a huge believer in doing whatever you can to be the best person you can be.Over the last month I’ve heard from numerous clients, networks and groups that over-scheduling, lack of time, energy and emotional vampires and job or performance anxiety are some of the key energy drains we all have that keep us from making time for ourselves in order to be the best we can be.So---I’ve just given you guilt free permission to unsubscribe to me, if it is an energy draining exercise. Please be methodical and do the same for the other energy draining activities you currently have in your life.Choose to Unsubscribe.Don’t subscribe to the drama of others, the unrealistic expectations of others, the unrealistic expectations of yourself, the ‘shoulds’ in your life and the ‘need tos’.This could be fun!
Instead, only subscribe to those things that you want to do.(I know this may be a challenge!)As you open up space for yourself by unsubscribing, think about what you may need to subscribe to instead or what subscription do you need to renew or upgrade in order to be the best you can be?Do you need a bump upor jump start in your exercise commitment, your eating habits, your ‘me’ time, your prayer life, your time with your partner or children, your attitude about work, your boundaries with others?Take stock and renew what is worthwhile to you.
I also thought about this on my run this morning as I passed a table of volunteers on the running trail with a sign about “Health Care Now”.I found this very interesting. The target audience was obviously those of us using the trail as a walker, runner, bicyclist or skater; all exercising and obviously doing something for our own health care.I’m not sure we were the right audience. We were all moving! We were all taking some responsibility about our own health. So now I’m challenging you. What are you doing about your own health and ability to be the best you can be?Are you ignoring it and counting on the government to provide health care if all else fails us?Or are you taking responsibility now for your own mental, emotional and physical health by choosing to do things that keep you the best you can be?The things you select to subscribe to will be different for each individual and I’m not suggesting what those healthy habits should be for you.Only you know what those habits should be for yourself.I’m just challenging you to acknowledge the need to examine these things and decide what you will Unsubscribe to and what new subscriptions, renewals or upgrades you will make to be the best you can be.Take control of your own ‘health care’.
Need some ideas?I’ll share mine:
1.Renew and upgrade my subscription to exercise by adding an additional run on the trail during the work week.
2.Renew my subscription to my morning meditations and upgrade with a nightly gratitude list.
3.Unsubscribe to every e-mail that I receive that I do not currently have a use for, because it’s distracting.
4.Renew my subscription for eating better and taking my daily vitamins and supplements.
5.Renew my subscription to looking at every person and situation and realizing that they are all doing the best they can with what they have at any given moment.
